500 Kilometres with the Trail Glove 7

I really like the Trail Glove 7. I have walked and run in them for over 500 kilometres and so far they are still relatively fine. the soles wore out where my feet apply the most pressure to the ground but other than that they’re fine. The top is without holes, without bleaching from the summer sun and without fraying on the sides of the shoes where different fabrics join each other.

Charging A Garmin Instinct With an External Solar Panel

Yesterday, out of curiousity I experimented. I charged both the Garmin Instinct Solar and the Garmin 45s with a solar panel. The first thing I noticed is that they were using 0.1 amps to charge, rather than 1, 2 or more amps of power. Until this experiment I had never considered how small batteries for gps watches are. 200 mah According to a Google search the battery capacity of GPS watches is around 200mah.

Films I Watched

For years I didn’t watch many films but recently the habit has returned. Blood and Gold I am used to watching English or French films about the First and Second World War but recently I watched Blood and Gold, in German, with English subtitles. It’s interesting to watch a German film rather than a European one, for a different perspective of the war. The film is set right at the end of the War, days before the Allies liberate Germany.

From L'Isle to La Sarraz on a Bike via Romainmôtier

Yesterday I cycled around 41 kilometres from L’Isle to Romainmôtier and then down to La Sarraz, to see the castle, and then to cycle back towards L’Isle and Haute-Morges. For the part from L’Isle to Romainmôtier you are on quiet roads for the most part, but then as you go from Romainmôtier to La Sarraz you need to take busy roads with dangerous cars driving fast and close. I didn’t feel the need to criticse any of the drivers, but it doesn’t as safe on that bit of road, due to the quantity of traffic.

In Need of a Rest Day

Today I went for a 12km walk over two hours in 26°c heat. According to the Suunto 5 Peak I have depleted my resources. I am at just three percent now. I need a proper night of sleep and some rest to recover. Productive Training According to the Suunto app I am in productive training and my fitness is increasing, but in the process my form is declining. I am, at least theoretically overtraining.

Running in Trail Glove 7 and Thoughts on The Venu 3

For the second time in a few days I ran over five kilometres in the Trail Glove 7 shoes without my knees or other parts of my body suffering. With other shoes I would have stopped after two kilometres but for some reason I can run further with Trail Glove 7 Fewer Runs Per Week At the moment I am running 5k but one or two weeks elapse between runs so my body has time to recover and adapt to running.

Autumn is Coming

Autumn, not winter, is coming. A week or two ago I noticed that a tree was changing from Green to red, as the leaves began to turn from Spring and Summer mode to Autumn and Winter mode. I noticed that the trees as you enter and leave Cheserex are also beginning to turn read. Changing Trees As if that wasn’t enough the leaves are also turning on the Jura. It is turning from green to orange, and red, and one or two other colours I didn’t pay attention to.

The Infomaniak Mail App

Last night I came across the Infomaniak Mail App and began to play with it. It’s a simple app that allows you to read infomaniak mails from their own mail app rather than others. The one thing that I miss is swiping right or left to go to the next or previous messages, but aside from that it work like I would expect an app to work. The app can be blue or pink, according to your preference.

Reverting to a Single Watch

Today I asked Google Bard whether I should wear two watches at a time and it told me not to. Specifically it told me not to wear a Garmin watch, and a Suunto watch at the same time as they may interferer with each other and more. Before the Apple Watch I only wore one watch at time. I wore the Suunto Spartan watch. When I got the Apple Watch I started to wear two watches at a time because they feed two different databases and the data is not shared from one to the other.

Trail Glove 7 After 440 Kilometres

Since the 7th of May 2023 I have been wearing Trail Glove 7 Shoes for most of my walks. During this time I have walked in towns, villages, fields, the mountains and more. They have felt comfortable for almost all of this walking. As I am not familiar with this type of shoe I have been keeping an eye on the wearing out of the shoes. Heels and Blisters Usually with most normal shoes I wear out the rear part of the shoe, to the point that the soft material that pads the back of the heel is worn away to expose bare plastic, which then wears against the back of my feet, and leaves blisters.
